Refuse to Think of Money as Something to Earn

Most people are taught to see money as something to earn, a reward for effort, time, or struggle. Yet, spiritual teachers like Neville Goddard invite us to see money not as a wage, but as a state of consciousness.
To “refuse to think of money as something to earn” is to shift from the mentality of labor and scarcity to the awareness that abundance already exists within you — waiting to be expressed through your assumption, imagination, and belief.

We can for sure name many people who work hard, sweat, struggle and the money does not  in the same proportion

When you see money as something to be earned, you place it outside of you. You make it conditional. You say: I must do this, achieve that, prove myself, before I can have it.

But this mindset keeps you in lack. Not because you are lazy or unworthy. Because you are operating from a false assumption. Money is not a reward for effort. It is a reflection.

Neville Goddard’s Perspective

Neville Goddard’s teachings center on one timeless idea:

“Your imagination is God.”

Whatever you assume to be true in imagination becomes your reality. That includes wealth. According to Neville, money is not something you work for, but something that flows naturally from who you assume yourself to be.

Here are the key points that define his approach:

  1. Imagination Creates Reality
Every state of consciousness contains its own reality. If you live from the state of already being wealthy, life rearranges itself to match that inner conviction.
The secret is not working for abundance, but living from it.

  2. Feeling Is the Secret
Thought alone is not enough. You must feel the reality of your wish fulfilled — the peace, confidence, and gratitude that come with financial ease. When that feeling becomes natural, your outer world must mirror it.

  3. Identity and Assumption
Instead of saying “I want money,” assume the identity of someone who has it — who naturally attracts it, manages it, and uses it wisely. You are not chasing wealth; you are embodying it.

  4. Let Go of the “How”
The universe (or your imagination) knows infinite ways to manifest your desire. When you think in terms of “earning,” you limit yourself to visible, logical channels.
But abundance doesn’t need your logic — it needs your faith.

  5. Purpose Beyond Possession
    Neville once said:

“My goal is not making money. My goal is the wise, productive use of money.”
When money becomes a tool for expression and service — not an idol or obsession — it flows more freely and effortlessly.

"Wealth Is Already Yours, Not a Future Prize.

You are not poor trying to become rich. You are rich, temporarily believing in lack. The moment you shift from earning to receiving, everything changes. Receiving is not passive. It is not begging. It is not hoping. Receiving is the quiet certainty that what you desire is already yours. Not because of what you did, but because of who you are. When you stop chasing money and start accepting it as a natural part of your life, you align with a deeper law: you attract what you assume, not what you desire."

Why You Should Refuse the “Earning” Mentality

To think of money as something to earn keeps you in the vibration of not having. It binds your worth to effort and time — illusions that belong to the material realm. By rejecting that paradigm, you:

  • Dissolve limiting beliefs such as “money is hard to make” or “I must work harder to deserve it.”

  • Release anxiety about when and how money will come.

  • Open creative channels through which inspiration, ideas, and synchronicities can bring financial flow.

Money begins to appear through unexpected avenues because consciousness is no longer resisting it.

Other Authors Who Echo This Idea

Neville is not alone in this truth. Several classic and modern thinkers have touched on the same principle, that wealth originates from consciousness, not labor.
